Workshop: Beyond Interaction toward Cooperation and Commoning

Hi, Sharing a call for participation here for an academic workshop that would really love participation from tech worker cooperative members. Following the format of most academic workshops, there is a registration fee and no travel support. I recognize that limits opportunities to attend, but sharing just in case:

Workshop: Beyond Interaction toward Cooperation and Commoning

We invite researchers, designers, and practitioners to submit contributions to Beyond Interaction toward Cooperation and Commoning, a half-day workshop at ACM DIS 2026 (UTown at the National University of Singapore on June 13, 2026).

Drawing on the rich traditions of cooperation and commoning, this workshop explores how theory and practice about cooperatives and commons can reshape our relationship to the designed world and challenge the exploitative systems embedded in contemporary technology.

We aim to bring together HCI scholars and practitioners to co-create a zine, identify a prospective research agenda, and foster an interdisciplinary community.

We invite researchers, designers, and practitioners from HCI and Sustainability, DIS, CSCW, C&T, PD, and CHI, to submit a contribution to the workshop. We are particularly interested in work that focuses on solidarity, collective and shared ownership, democratic governance, or aims to envision just futures addressing the dominant extractive for-profit frameworks.

Participants may submit one of the following via form: https://forms.gle/t4LSdXtUae9dP2MC7

  1. A 300-- 500-word expression of interest (ACM Template format), or
