Web Forwarding / Redirecting .coop domains?

Hi, I wasn’t sure where to post this so I hope it’s ok.

I’ve been trying to add a redirect to my .coop domain via encirca but it’s really not clear how to do it. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue?

Basically the only think I’ve been able to find is an option to “buy” web forwarding for free as a product and set the address I wanted it to forward to but haven’t seen any changes over the past day.

We’ve also been having issues with trying to move the .coop domain to a GoDaddy account where we have the rest of our domains already. Anyone have similar issues?

Thanks,
Josh

Haven’t used encirca, raise this issue with domains.coop?

If, when you mention moving the domain to a GoDaddy account, you mean having GoDaddy as the domain registrar, I would assume that the issues would likely be because GoDaddy doesn’t support the .coop TLD. Because of its specialist nature not all registrars will support it because their systems can’t cope.

I’m not certain I understand what you mean by a ‘redirect’, but maybe it’s just that you have a site at example.com and you want example.coop to point to it? In which case you need to set a CNAME record in the DNS. no?

Ok ya this makes sense. So if we want to move the domain it sounds like we’ll need to focus on other ones that support .coop specifically listed?

The idea is just that since we recently got the .coop domain and will be rebranding towards that being our main one however we still have the old one up for now as we prep for the move. So I wanted to share the new domain so that for now it redirects to the old one.

Most apps will either accept multiple domain names or you can setup redirects via DNS records (usually with the CNAME record as @Graham said.
