@Mateus at Outlandish created some new/additional suggested designs for the CoTech website. The thinking behind this is to make it a
- easier to see who provides which services and with which technologies
- better communicate the value added to clients by working with multiple specialist agencies (i.e. showcase our collaborations better)
You can see the proposed designs here: Adobe XD
We are looking for a CoTech coop to transform these XD designs into HTML and CSS. We’d also need to understand how we can change some of the filtering in order that the search/categorisation fields work.
In addition, let me know if you fancy writing some case studies of CoTech collaborations, then let me know. I’m happy to work on this with you, or for you to take it on.
I adore the idea of prioritizing member connections over singular clients <3
Making visible the negative space between “things” is so important – preferring to focus on connections over entities, that feels like the essence of the co-operative approach from a network science perspective
I like the new layout with series of introductory paragraphs and photos, would there be a time-limit on how long each is displayed? Or a limit, say 1 article per co-op?
Any chance someone with access to the site might be able to fix the typo on the front page? It currently reads : “If you’re a tech co-op or a co-operatively minded freelancer and you’d like to join us.”
…but that is not really a sentence. At the very least it deserves a comma, but maybe would be better if it were “If you’re a tech co-op or a co-operatively minded freelancer, please join us.”
Thanks, good to know that someone has read it! I’ve updated the text as suggested:
The CI pipeline to update the development / staging version of the site is currently running, once that has completed we can check the result and if it is OK click the button to deploy to the live site.
The CI is failing, I’ve opened an issue for this and will see if I can fix it after lunch.
Whoa so speedy! Thanks @chris !
It would be good to refresh the site, both in terms of copy and design.
@jonathan we hadn’t gone as far as to make a suggestion for how long text shows or anything like that - all up for grabs. In terms of the time limit - I guess that would depend on there being new content to add to keep it fresh, and people to be proactive on getting it up there.
With regards to the one-article-per-coop limit, I guess personally I think that would be bit sad because I know Outlandish has been involved in a few collaborations that I’d love to showcase. Plus I think a few coops have only collaborated with Outlandish so we’d end up being there more than once inevitably. But I definitely think that there should be a decent and fair spread so it doesn’t get dominated by a few coops!!
Still really interested in seeing whether anyone is up for converting those designs into HTML, or trying new designs that have a similar impact
The issues was caused by the GitLab CI runner server running out of disk space, I’ve fixed that and the site has been updated.
@chris thanks as always for that fix!
I’d also like to see the forum and the wiki more prominently featured as they’re both quite the treasure trove of info.
Maybe we could put aside a bit of budget for a cross co-op dev team to do some small tweaks to the site and get it to the state where bigger changes could be made?
