Terraform forked to OpenTF

The popular Hashicorp digital infrastructure provisioning tool Terraform, which was released with the Mozilla Public License has been re-licensed by Hashicorp using the Business Source License, which is a non-free, non-open source license.

In response individual and corporate users of Terraform have established the OpenTF Foundation, as part of the Linux Foundation.

And have announced plans to release a fork, which is expected to be published to their GitHub project in the next few weeks.

I’ll be switching from Terraform when OpenTF becomes available.

When RedHat brought Ansible in 2015 they GPL’d associated tools, if RedHat wasn’t now owned by IBM and was buying HashiCorp I would expect them to GPL it…
