Seeking a co-operatively minded freelance digital designer with strong tech skills (project work)

media co-op are pitching for a job for a local organisation with a modest budget to celebrate their 30th anniversary. We’re looking for a cooperatively-minded freelance designer with solid tech background to join our team for the project.

The output will be an interactive timeline, accessed via their website. It will tell the story of their organisation, from the point of view of their partners organisations, with a focus on impact on their communities.

The organisation wants to incorporate photos, illustration, infographics and potentially video into the interactive timeline.

Format:

We’re aware that an interactive PDF won’t work well on a website since the large file size will take too long to load. They are a small team so don’t have the capacity to build something directly on their website.

We’d love to meet a designer who could create - or advise on formats for - the timeline ie on a suitable platform or in a suitable format. Ideally the output would be easily editable by the organisation so that the timeline has longevity.

The project will start in September and finish by February 2027.

We are just pitching at this stage but if you’re interested in working with us on this - or you know someone who might be - please contact susie@mediaco-op.net - any questions welcome.

Hi @Louise this sounds like a nice opportunity

I’m with sepheo (a mutual-aid group for freelancers), and I know we’ve got some co-operatively minded designers in the registry, so I’ll ping some of them in the next week or so. Not sure of how “strong” their tech skills are, so wondering if you see room for the designer to collab with a technical person?

Thanks,
Robert.
