I sent this to contact@cotech.coop and @mikaelaraphael asked me to post it on here.

Hi folks,
Just making a tentative enquiry at this stage -
Radical Routes use netcup (something like this: RS 2000 G12 ip iv 12M at netcup )
and I’m wondering if any tech co-ops can come close on price for
something like that?
Theoretically we shouldn’t need much support - we run Cloudron and
manage everything within that ourselves, so we’d just need a bare server
with Ubuntu on it.
Best,
Danny (wearing a Radical Routes digital WG hat)

@da5nsy I know that Web Architects has some really exciting plans around new hardware. Autonomic also has a separate plan up our sleeves. Don’t think anyone will be able to match a large scale VPS provider at this point though. The economies of scale are just too strong.
We’ve resorted to mostly re-selling Hetzner VPS which is less than ideal but it’s dirt cheap.
Has Radical Routes considered owning it’s own hardware? I can’t say that I’ve looked at the total cost of ownership of a physical server and colocation costs in a cooperative data centre such as the one at Ashton, but if the organisation is sitting on cash it might be something to consider. Then you could stop paying rent to the other side and start building cooperative capacity! Also, very nice to meet you IRL at the weekend @da5nsy
This is a VPS, the CPU has 96 cores, we are working on a new OpenStack service but it isn’t yet available yet, when it is we plan to try to match the Krystal prices but I’m afraid these are higher than the Netcup prices, unless Radical Routes is prepared to pay substantially more I don’t think we can help.
FWIW Webarchitects are Radical Routes associate members.

Yah stay tuned! There might be a co-location rack available sometime soon if a certain building actually gets finished.
