I used to not be okay with the idea of CollapseOS & DuskOS. I remember seeing these projects as a signal that it was okay to give up on civilization and embrace the The Uninhabitable Earth by David Wallace-Wells. The more I thought about it though, in our global network there is a lot of over-provisioned resources. Way overpowered machines running trivial tasks (helloWorld.py). I have seen companies set up full Windows workstations made to run a single JavaScript file. This approach is not sustainable.
If we collectively switch over to a more energy-efficient & less resource intensive software & hardware like the ones listed in the permaculture project, we can do our part in preventing the worst case climate scenarios.
