We are part of the Tech for Palestine network. The team there have been doing some amazing work and they currently have a programme that I promised I’d share this with this network.
They’re working with Phoenix Space to find in-person internship placements for university students from Gaza who’ve been evacuated during the genocide and are now studying at UK and Irish universities. There are over 100 students across all kinds of disciplines - tech, business, media, medicine and more. Many of the Master’s students also have several years of professional experience already.
They’re looking for agencies and organisations willing to host a student. There are two options:
**Part-time (spring)**
- 3 months: April, May, June
- 15 hrs/week (£750/month) or 20 hrs/week (£1,000/month)
**Full-time (summer)**
- 3 months: July, August, September
- 40 hrs/week (£2,000/month)
These are paid placements - that was a deliberate decision so students aren’t being asked to work for free, especially full-time. They are happy to talk through the costs with employers.
If you’re interested, you just need to reach out to iva@techforpalestine.org. The goal is to place all 100 students, so if you can offer multiple positions or pass this on to other employers in your network, that would be brilliant.
