International Fallout of Cotech and Workers.coop merger

I’d like to check my understanding of how the merger has changed Cotech’s relationship with nationality.

This is what I think:

Cotech pre-merger was (de facto) UK exclusive although coops based in the UK often had members overseas.

Workers.coop is explicitly trans-national, although centred in the UK.

Having reread the merger MoA, it seems to me that Cotech is now also trans-national, meaning we can have member coops based outside the UK.

Is this what you think has happened?

I think this is up to CoTech – I do recall discussing this some in the past and my understanding is that we can still be a network of UK based tech worker co-ops who are members of workers.coop or we could open it up if we want, do you have something specific in mind @KingMob ?

The two people who responded so far to my post about having a shared Cotech chat channel are both from tech coops outside the UK.

This is what prompted my thinking. I think one of those coops is actually a workers.coop member as well, meaning they would be eligible to be a member of Cotech if Cotech was now transnational.

I was thinking that the channel would be just for Cotech members, but then I realised I wasn’t entirely sure what the boundary for that was.

Personally I’d be happy to be transnational, but I don’t want to upset what people understood the group to be.

It sounds like a international tech coop chat channel might be the way to go then? :woman_shrugging:
