Hello from Third Sector Design

Hi there,

My name is Johanna, I’m the operations manager at Third Sector Design. Our mission is to help non-profits make the most of technology. We’re becoming increasingly involved in the co-op scene as we’ve been developing a community shares extension for CiviCRM in collaboration with Sharenergy (if you’re interested, have a read about the project here). It’s been an exciting new direction for us, and we’re up for collaborating on similar projects with likeminded people and thought this would be good place to connect and say hi

Good to have you here @Johanna

@jonhalle also has an account here but he hasn’t been here recently… Good to see you are using the AGPL, IMHO this is the (or one of the?) the most co-operative licenses available since it enforces sharing, doesn’t allow privatisation and adds code to the software commons, it would be great to see more co-ops using your CiviCRM extension and collaborating on producing software specifically for co-ops!

Cheers Chris, yes I’m lurking. We’re now underway with our third sizeable community energy organisation to use CiviShares, keen to see if it can be of use to others in the wider co-operative sector (and similar bodies)

Hi Johanna,

Natasha here from Outlandish Cooperative in London. Great to hear about your projects. We’ve been doing some work customising Civi for the community energy movement as well - funnily enough. But we’ve focused on customising at as a case management system for energy advice - Nook CRM. We’re doing an interactive online event on it in a month’s time, I wonder if any of you from Third Sector would be up for joining us? It would be great to learn more about what you’re upto with Civi.

CiviCRM for Case Management: A Deep Dive into Nook Tickets, Tue, May 20, 2025 at 3:00 PM | Eventbrite.

We’re also doing another in-person event on cooperative finance in June and Repowering London is going to talk about how they’re using Civishares:

So seems to be a lot of overlap, I hope you can make it to one of these
