Hello from Hackney

Hello everyone, I’m Arianna, a Data & AI Ethics Associate with the civil service thinking of jumping ship to found a digital tech co-op with three co-founders if we can secure investment in our business idea.

Hit me up if you’re interested in any of the following:

I have a PhD in political economy & AI ethics and almost a decade of field experience as a humanitarian worker in the Middle East. Am always happy to connect on anything related to the Middle East, philosophy, or economics.

I’ve recently launched Street Light Parties in London where I and other lady + non-gender conforming DJs play house, disco, funk, hip-hop, gospel, jazz, garage etc. Hoping to partner with the local Green Party later this month for some events, and looking for ways to platform artists of all stripes + local small business owners. So far, I’ve been building organically by word-of-mouth & without Instagram by adding people to a WhatsApp group, with a view to switching to Signal once we have enough of a name + following.

My housemates & I are looking into starting a housing co-op or a work & live co-op in Hackney (if we can find a space large enough for aerial hoop classes). Advice and suggestions always welcome!

I try to make it to SPACE4 for Outlandish’s brownbag lunches + worker cooperative business advice at least once a month and will be there later today; hope to meet some of you there!

Hi @Arianna - welcome!

Your message made me think of a couple of things.

You might be interested in https://jam.coop/ - a co-operatively owned alternative to Bandcamp that we’ve been building. We’re looking for musicians and labels particularly in the UK to talk to and work with.

I also co-own a digital tech co-op and am based in Space4, so I’m happy to chat about that kind of stuff any time.
