EOI for renewed websites for Freedom Press (UK's oldest Anarchist Press)

Hello,
I’m new to the CoTech forum but know quite a few of you from my work at Disrupt Foundation, and Shift before that. We’re putting out an expression of interest call on behalf of one of our grantees. Freedom have three arms, Freedom News and Journal, Freedom Publishing (Britain’s oldest anarchist press) and the Freedom Bookshop, Britain’s largest anarchist bookshop.

They have a small grant from us to contribute to the redo their two ageing websites. They have a vision of what they want but nothing committed to paper or wireframes yet which is why we’re putting a callout to freelancers or agencies who are interested in chatting with them to help shape a full brief.

The full EOI details can be found here. It’s an interesting gig, working with anarchists who prefer to own and control their own digital spaces, independent of the AWS’s and big 5’s of the world.

A few additional details:

  • Budget - Funder+ projects at Disrupt are capped at £10K. We do not expect £10K to cover the full project but as part of discussions with Freedom, are interested in understanding what that £10K could cover and how much the entire project likely to cost.

  • Contract length/Location - Would be defined by you.

  • Deadline - Expressions of interest by EOD on Tuesday 16/12

  • When we run an EOI we generally invite 2 or 3 suitable people/orgs for an initial chat about the project before inviting a proposal from a shortlist of 1-2.

Please don’t share this in other forums or on general job boards. (passing directly to friends/colleagues who might be a good fit is much appreciated though)

Thanks for this, but it’s a ludicrously low budget for what you are looking for. If anyone bites at this, it will be the worst form of self-exploitation. One for the trustafarians.

Hi Tim, I appreciate that the EOI is not for you but just to clarify, the £10K is only what Disrupt can contribute to this work (as mentioned in the EOI). Freedom are well aware that this will cost anywhere from 2x to 6x that but dont have experience with pricing for this type of work and want to speak with a small number of freelancers or agencies to understand where that 10K will get them to in that journey and how much they will need for the entire job.

Apologies. I misunderstood/read it too quickly. I see that the 10K is only a part of the funding.
