Digital Inclusion for Refugees

Hi all,
I’m working on a small quick project with a refugee agency working to ensure that asylum seekers and refugees in UK can get access to the internet while socially isolated during the current crisis.

  • I’m looking out for similar charity projects
  • and also for potential providers of kit (laptops, smartphones and tablets, refurbished is OK), and data/connections,
  • also for any good deals on this stuff, or advice/ideas about connecting all this up!
  • not looking for direct donations at this stage, but might be soon!

Apologies for x-posting, I’ll put this on ECF list today too, but we’re trying to be nimble and get things moving quickly,

This is a project from Open E-Commerce (who did join CoTech, but I haven’t heard from them in a while). Rather than using the internet, it uses SMS to make sure they can still access help. http://www.helptext.uk/

I know that’s not exactly what you’re asking for but they might have some golden nuggets to save you time/money/skills.
