Updating the website to implement the 2025 rebrand

Hey folks!

We’re almost ready with the new branding and in the process of figuring out how best to implement it on our website. We’ll be showcasing it at the Wed June 25th Circle Call.

In general there’s a feeling in the circle call and the rebrand working group (I’m in both) that the website could do with a bit of updating/streamlining.

However there is no funding to put behind a serious technical redesign and we’d like to have something ready before Coops Congress on the 4th/5th July where we have a big presence (we’re speaking on a panel, running a workshop and tabling a stall). So I’m thinking about the low hanging fruit.

The new website has a dark theme i.e. a black background (which looks fab by the way, thank you Creative Coop) but I think this will affect how all the icons and logos look. I know we can make them grayscale with CSS but I’m not sure that’s going to look great.

Provided this is possible (we are consulting with Go Free Range who implemented our website), I therefore propose that:

  • We remove the technologies and clients section from the home page. This will reduce the top menu items and draw focus to the coops themselves.
  • On the coop pages, remove the services, technology and client icons/logos and have them listed neatly as text.

What do you all think?

Sound sensible to me Natasha, thanks for your work on this.

Both Services and Technologies is basically ‘everything’ so not that useful.

We could also update the strapline to better suggest the range of services offfered.

from:
“Creative technology companies, fully owned and controlled by the people who do the work. Cooperative ownership means tech that’s better for its workers and customers.”

to something like:
“We are a network of Creative, Digital and Technology companies, all fully owned and controlled by the people who do the work.”

and remove the lines below:
“Co-tech is a network of ethical tech, digital and creative co-operatives. We’re part of workers.coop, join us!”
