I just came across PeerTube, it is a peer to peer federated video platform that uses bittorrent as the back end, the code is on GitHub:

Would be instance for co-operatives to host videos on, perhaps using the tube.coop domain, be something that people would be interested in?

Also check out p2p video work with the Dat protocol:

  • hypercast, p2p broadcasting for dat:// enabled web browsers

Beaker Browser is an exciting p2p alternative for the open web.
