The Worker Co-op Council agreed to make a firm booking for Worker Co-op Weekend at Selgars Mill near Tiverton, Friday 23-Sunday 25 July. The day before - Thursday 22 July - we are mooting a pre-event Solidfund strategy session, which may run alongside a face-to-face gathering for the relaunched Young Cooperators Network.
We have also agreed to put together an online pre-event on Saturday 1 May, International Workers Day, possibly with 3 segments:
10.30-1.00 Worker co-ops: How to get Started - paid-for webinar, part of Stir to Action’s New Economy Programme
Afternoon: Open session to discuss the programme for WCW (possible themes Youth and International Solidarity)
Evening: Virtual bonfire, quiz, singsong, drinking games hosted by Blake House (last year’s was fabulous, went on for 5 hours and we had people from Spain, Argentina, Poland)
Watch this space for booking and programme details. Selgars Mill has some indoor accommodation, plus camping/glamping and lots of B&B locally (unlike previous, remote moorland venues). There will be child day/playcare for those who want to combine it with a family trip, attention to level access and careful COVID planning
