More long-tail opportunities - GDI Hub

The Global Disability Innovation Hub is based in the Olympic Park, as part of the UCL buildings.

I received their latest newsletter:

They have some funded projects that would need the skills from software dev’s, as well as the digital agency services that some CoTech members provide.

Those would be worth bidding for the tenders, as the co-operative approach will work more effectively in the long-run.

Setting up co-operatives to provide services for their users, would be a simple version of the “buyer’s club” business-model of co-operatives, and this would be a way of getting funded support for people who are digitally-excluded, or only being served by exploitative, proprietary companies.

One horrible example here:

Pitching the creation of co-operative support services, using the technology that we work on, would work well, and the GDI Hub have the funding streams available.

As the GDI Hub operate internationally, this also means that the opportunity for starting co-op’s in other countries would become available.
