On the weekend I went to a talk by Kali and his comrade (apologies, I’m terrible with names) from Co-operation Jackson. It’s possibly one of the most inspiring discussions I’ve ever been part of. They have been organising for decades in Jackson, Mississippi and in the past 5 years have accelerated efforts to build a new economy based on principles of co-operation, democracy and mutual aid. You can read more about the details below. It is so rare to see such a positive yet pragmatic response to the material reality we find ourselves in. I’m still really processing it all! Maybe I will post some more thoughts in this thread as time goes on. We all have a lot to learn from these amazing folks! ## Find out more! ### Their website > **[Cooperation Jackson](https://cooperationjackson.org/)** > > building a solidarity economy anchored by a network of cooperatives and other types of worker owned and democratically self-managed enterprises ### A great documentary [![](https://community.coops.tech/uploads/default/original/2X/e/ed4f832e5561e9b10ae2dd5fc330d6ee5dfa169c.jpeg "American Climate Rebels Episode 11: Cooperation Jackson: Building a Social and Solidarity Economy") ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Nt9Z2P7mPY) > In Jackson, Mississippi, Cooperation Jackson are building a solidarity economy, anchored by a network of cooperatives and worker-owned, democratically self-managed enterprises. This visionary project not only continues the historic Afro-American struggle for land, but shows how we can all make a just transition to a zero carbon, zero waste economy ourselves. ---
