A couple of months ago, i went to the first book launch by http://www.participatorycity.org/
While i was there i spoke to a couple of people from Barking & Dagenham Council.
They’re having to make around £40 million worth of cuts to their local services over the next 5 years.
In an effort to build systems for the local community, without cutting the level of service provision, they are looking to set up local enterprises, and local co-operatives.
They’ve got a lot of funding available to help get projects in that part of London off the ground.
Some of the organisers of this will be at the book launch this Thursday evening, "Activating The Urban Commons" Book Launch 28th June
If your co-op is working in the required fields, then it would worth sending someone from your team along.
