Animorph is looking to hire a part-time Finance Officer. You will work with the Finance Circle, and should be enthusastic about becoming the leader in this area. As the Finance Officer, you will be responsible for developing a holistic understanding of the business and how it is represented on our books, as well as owning all core bookkeeping and accounting processes, and building internal systems that scale with us as as we continue to grow.
Our target start date is mid-February 2023.
All employees of the company are paid hourly at the same rate of £22/hour. You will be employed by Animorph on a 12-month part-time contract for 24 hours a week. After our first two months together we will review the scope of your work, with a potential to increase your hours worked a week. This is an in-office role, and we will work together in our offices close to Finsbury Park station in London.
About the role
First week: You will meet other members on the team, learn about Animorph’s drive, aims, and previous projects. Supported by the Finance Circle, you will seek to understand our existing finance processes. We’re a small (<10 workers) co-operative that’s growing steadily, and interpersonal rapport is essential.
First month: You will take ownership of the full financial process of bookkeeping and bank reconciliations with Xero, maintenance of accounts recievable and accounts payable, running payroll through our external accountants, and keeping organised records.
First six months: You will review and innovate processes to implement best practise. You will own the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant accounting, together with our external accountants. You will initiate regular forecasting and reporting to the other members, and be the point of contact for internal finance-related queries. You will be supported to handle our grant-related finance operations, and prepare budgets for new bids.
First year: You will identify and analyse new opportunities for cost savings or additional revenue. You will research tax deals, optimising our processes towards maximising profits. You will oversee the financial aspects of our contracts with partners, and other aspects of compliance. You will be an impactful team member setting accounting policies and procedures, and leading finance at a growing tech company that aims to enrich human potential.

We specialise in extended reality (XR) which facilitates recovery from medical conditions, improvement of mental health and well-being, and life-long learning. Our work takes many forms such as a wearable augmented reality stress-relief tool, browser-based educational training games, or a tablet-based stroke rehabilitation app. We have been building together since 2016, and are excited to continue growing our team and worker co-operative as somewhere we can all thrive.

About you
- Experienced: 1+ years of experience in a finance role.
- London-based: Able to work together with us in our offices in Finsbury Park, London.

You are confident with maths, and enjoy sinking your teeth into logic and numbers puzzles, and spreadsheets. You are comfortable with ambiguity and can take initiative finding the answers to unknowns.
